I can't figure this one out on my own.?

He's single & i'm single. I've spent the night with him on two occions. We cuddle and whatnot. There's been moments when I thought he would kiss me but he never did. He says i'm attractive and i think likewise of him. We hold hands sometimes, he gives me extra long hugs, etc. I swear there's moments when i think he likes me just as much as i do but then he starts talking about another girl. there;s one time when he asked me what kind of guys i like and i told him, "cute, nice, great sense of humor, etc" and he said "so basically like me". then he described the girls that typically attract him and he said "girls like you" . We're both out of school now. He told me he misses me twice. And we just got out of school on friday. So it's just been pretty strange. Are we just friends? Does he like me? Why is he sending mixed signals? What do you think of this situation?
