Nintendo DS turns on for a split second then dies?

I have an original Nintendo DS. When I press the power on, the bottom screen illuminates and dies a split second later. The green light is on for this split second. The battery appears to charge and has the right voltage. I have also tried this plugged in. I opened it up and I checked the two fuses with a ohm meter; both are good. Does anyone have any advice of what to do now?
